Michael Prasad, a young man from the suburbs of Suva, has turned his passion for fitness into a thriving business. Once a high jumper and basketball player, Mr. Prasad’s love for basketball led him to switch schools and ultimately guided his decision to leave his job at the Bank South Pacific (BSP) in 2019 to pursue his fitness aspirations.
Now at 34 years old, he proudly runs Evolve Fitness Gym, located on Raojibhai Patel Street in Suva, which recently opened its doors just three weeks ago. His journey was fueled by the unwavering support of his wife, Courtney Cheer, and their two sons, which has been instrumental in his quest for a more fulfilling career.
Feeling unchallenged in his previous job, Mr. Prasad decided to make a change, seeking to engage in something he truly enjoys: fitness and helping others. He started his fitness journey by training individuals at Metro Gym in Suva and soon realized that many were looking for an exclusive training environment. This realization led him to open a small studio for four years before relocating and expanding.
Responding to the demand for a more comprehensive gym experience, Mr. Prasad designed Evolve Fitness Gym with a focus on exclusivity and premium services. He trained an estimated 300 to 400 individuals during his earlier years and recognized the need for a gym closer to his clients’ workplaces.
Evolve Fitness Gym offers intimate fitness classes focused on small groups of eight, allowing trainers to give personalized attention to each participant. The gym hosts an impressive lineup of 41 exclusive fitness equipment options, such as the belt squat and hip thrust machines, aimed at fostering a dedicated community of gym-goers.
Looking ahead, Mr. Prasad has ambitious plans to expand his offerings, including classes for beginners and even mindful training sessions like yoga, while maintaining the accessibility of the gym for everyone. Evolve Fitness Gym provides various pricing packages, encouraging potential clients to choose from flexible membership options.
Adopting a holistic approach to wellness, Mr. Prasad emphasizes that individuals can enjoy life by indulging occasionally without compromising the importance of regular exercise. His slogan, “live your fullest,” encapsulates this philosophy, encouraging people to balance enjoyment with fitness while managing stress—something he describes as a significant health hazard.
In a growing fitness community in Suva, Michael Prasad’s story exemplifies how following one’s passion can lead to fruitful opportunities. His dedication to facilitating a supportive and enriching environment for fitness enthusiasts is not only inspiring but also heralds a new era of wellness-focused engagement in Fiji.
By nurturing a more inclusive fitness culture, Evolve Fitness Gym could pave the way for healthier lifestyles and greater community connection in the region.
