Michael Prasad, a former high jumper and basketball player from Suva, has taken a significant step in pursuing his passion for fitness by opening Evolve Fitness Gym on Raojibhai Patel Street. After resigning from his position at the Bank South Pacific (BSP) in 2019, the 34-year-old found inspiration to turn his love for fitness into a business, supported by his wife, Courtney Cheer, and their two sons.
Prasad’s journey into the fitness world began with assisting individuals at Metro Gym in Suva, where he recognized a demand for smaller, more exclusive training environments. This led him to establish a private training studio that operated for approximately four years before transitioning to a larger space. He noted that many of his clients preferred a gym located conveniently near their workplaces, leading him to his current location.
At Evolve Fitness Gym, which opened just three weeks ago, Prasad offers intimate fitness classes limited to eight participants, allowing for personalized attention and a unique training experience. The gym features cutting-edge equipment that is not commonly found in other facilities, including a belt squat and hip thrust machines.
His long-term vision for the gym includes expanding the range of classes offered, such as beginner sessions and mindful practices like yoga. Open to a diverse clientele, Evolve Fitness Gym aims to provide an innovative approach to fitness that reflects a shift towards wellness rather than traditional bodybuilding.
Currently, the gym offers flexible membership options, including three-month and annual packages, with discounts for longer terms. Prasad is also contemplating corporate partnerships to further enhance the gym’s offerings. His philosophy, embodied in the tagline “live your fullest,” encourages a balanced approach to fitness where enjoyment of life does not have to be sacrificed for a rigorous training regime.
In summary, Michael Prasad’s story reflects a commendable transition from a conventional job to fulfilling his dream in the fitness industry, fueled by community demand and a desire to help others. His initiative to provide a fresh approach to fitness in Suva is inspiring and highlights the positive impact of pursuing one’s passions.
