Josese Cagica grew up in a food-loving family, which not only sparked his culinary interests but also motivated him to obtain a culinary qualification and start his own bakery.
Mr. Cagica recently participated in the Miss Hibiscus Festival, where he employed youths from Nadera, giving them an opportunity to earn a fair income. He described showcasing his business at the festival as a unique experience, highlighting the challenges he faces in establishing his brand.
“Being here at the Miss Hibiscus Festival is a unique opportunity for me, especially as I introduce new pastries that could become popular in town,” he shared. “I believe events like the Hibiscus Festival allow business owners like me to enhance and better represent ourselves in the marketplace.”
In addition to building his brand, ‘The Cake Lab,’ Mr. Cagica is dedicated to supporting local youths by providing them with job opportunities. Inspired by the festival’s spirit, he aims to give back to the community, improve his living standards, and help the young individuals he encounters. He attributes much of his success to the unwavering support he receives from his parents, family, and friends.
His business is seeing growth, as he now receives local orders as well as requests from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Africa. Despite the challenges he has faced, Mr. Cagica views this stage of his journey as more of a blessing than a burden.
