Two men are set to appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today, facing charges filed by the Fiji Police Mpaisa Task Force for separate instances of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception.
In the first case, a 36-year-old man from Wailea, Vatuwaqa is accused of deceiving a victim on May 21, 2023. He allegedly convinced her that he had mistakenly sent a One Time Pin (OTP) and requested her details. After receiving the OTP, he purportedly transferred $447.00, which he then withdrew for personal use.
In a separate incident, another 36-year-old man from Koronivia is accused of unlawfully obtaining $190 from a victim on November 17, 2023. The investigation indicated that the victim responded to a Facebook post about a car for hire and sent the deposit to the advertised number. The accused reportedly failed to provide the promised service after using the funds.
Both individuals will be presented before the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.
