A 39-year-old man from Nakasi has been charged by the Fiji Police MPAiSA task force in connection with an alleged financial fraud case. It is claimed that on January 21, 2023, he unlawfully obtained $190 from a member of the public using a mobile money transfer service. Police investigations revealed that the victim sent the $190 as a deposit for a rental car advertised on Facebook. Following the transaction, the accused reportedly withdrew the funds and ceased all communication with the victim. He is scheduled to appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.
