The Suva Magistrate’s Court has postponed the sentencing of former Post Fiji chief executive officer, Anirudha Bansod, to August 7.
Bansod appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad yesterday.
Devanesh Sharma is representing Bansod, while Arieta Vaganalau is the prosecution lawyer.
Magistrate Prasad has requested clarification on several issues in the case and has instructed both parties to focus on the conflict of interest as the main issue.
Mr. Sharma argued that a fair bid was submitted and that any conflict of interest was perceived rather than actual.
He also stated that Bansod had no role in deciding who would be awarded the tender.
Ms. Vaganalau countered that there was a conflict of interest and that Bansod did not disclose his acquaintance with the bidders.
Magistrate Prasad said he would not hasten the sentencing process.
He instructed both parties to prepare and present their submissions within the next seven days before the court reaches a verdict.
Bansod is alleged to have provided false declarations regarding confidentiality and conflict of interest for the 2022 tender concerning the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application.
