The attorney representing a former military finance officer facing two counts of abuse of office has sought a one-month delay to review the newly provided disclosures. Sarika Devi Raj appeared before Magistrate Pulekeria Low in Suva earlier this week. She is charged with the failure to declare her status as the sole proprietor of Maleka Investment, which is an active vendor for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces during her employment, resulting in a financial gain of $182,404.99.
On August 26, her attorney, Mohammed Saneem, indicated that he had received the second phase of disclosures. He requested additional time to thoroughly assess the materials, citing their extensive nature. Ms. Raj is scheduled to have her plea recorded on September 27.
