Former FijiFirst MP Jone Usamate reiterates support for Prime Minister – What You Need to Know!

Former FijiFirst MP and independent member of Parliament Jone Usamate has reaffirmed his support for Prime Minister and the Coalition Government.

During the budget debate in Parliament on Wednesday, he stated that he would oppose any measure that he believes does not meet the needs of the people.

“In my current capacity as an independent member of Parliament, I am prepared to support the Prime Minister, to support the Government on issues brought up by the Government that I believe are in the best interest of this country,” Mr. Usamate said.

“But I will fight against and oppose anything that I believe does not address our needs and is against the best interests of this country.”

He noted that while the budget contains many positive aspects, it also has several underlying weaknesses.

“And this is why I cannot fully support this budget,” he added.

He emphasized that everyone expects the Government to perform well.

“Fiji needs the government to do well. I need the government to do well. Everybody on this side needs the government to do well. We all need it.”

“We want you to do well. You determine the way forward.”
