Football Star Returns to Fiji: Unveiling Hidden Talent

Former LA Galaxy player Israel Sesay has returned to Fiji to participate in an international development program designed to support young football talent. This initiative, organized by Riyaz Ali, founder of the International Youth Football Academy (IYFA), has been in operation for eight years and features professional players from the United States conducting training sessions in Fiji.

Sesay, who gained recognition as one of the youngest players to be recruited by LA Galaxy and for playing alongside football icon David Beckham, will dedicate two weeks in Fiji focusing on enhancing the techniques and tactics of young players.

Ali shared that he and Sesay established their connection during his visit to Fiji in 2013, where their mutual commitment to football development motivated this collaboration. The duo aims to scout local talent and create opportunities for these young athletes to enter the international football arena.

“When Ali asked me to come and help out with the kids, it was a no-brainer for me. I love doing what I do because I’m trying to pass on my knowledge, what I’ve learned playing professionally and from all these big coaches, and help these kids grow,” Sesay remarked.

With Sesay’s guidance, the program seeks to enhance the skills of Fijian youth, potentially opening doors for them to embark on professional football careers.
