Food rations provided by the government are set to begin distribution as early as tomorrow in the Western Division for individuals residing in evacuation centres. Currently, four evacuation centres have been established, accommodating a total of 61 households and 234 individuals. The centres include Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.
These centres have been the beneficiaries of generous donations, including cooked meals and hygiene kits from various faith-based organizations, non-governmental groups, and the Ministry of Health. The Fiji Red Cross has also contributed dignity kits to the Saioni and Korovuto Secondary Evacuation Centres.
In response to the ongoing situation, public advisories have been issued to ensure that individuals remain prepared and knowledgeable about safety precautions. The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and the Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) are actively monitoring the situation, alongside the other three Divisional EOCs, which are keeping a close watch on weather developments in their regions.
