The Fiji National University (FNU) outreach team has made notable strides in broadening educational access for students in remote regions, culminating in a successful application drive across the Kadavu and Lomaiviti Groups. This initiative aimed to provide essential support to students who may otherwise face hurdles due to their geographical locations.

Koro High School teacher Semisi Caucau expressed gratitude for FNU’s commitment to assisting students with their applications, stating that their efforts have significantly impacted students’ confidence and opened doors for future aspirations. “Your willingness to assist our students has made a profound impact,” Caucau remarked, recognizing the crucial role FNU plays in shaping the educational landscape of local communities.

The outreach included informative sessions at Vunisea Secondary School, Richmond High School, and Levuka Public School, where FNU representatives engaged with Year 12 and Year 13 students. They shared valuable insights into various academic programs and provided guidance on the application process.

Vijayta Sharma, the acting manager of outreach, noted the eagerness of students, especially at Vunisea, where they actively sought information on how FNU’s offerings align with their career aspirations. “The excitement was palpable,” she stated, as Year 13 students interacted enthusiastically about their options for the upcoming academic year.

This initiative not only facilitated the acquisition of vital academic information but also strengthened the relationship between FNU and the communities it serves. The outreach team expressed appreciation to Year 13 students at Gau Secondary School who dedicated their Saturday to meet with FNU staff and complete application forms. Their dedication exemplifies a strong commitment to planning for their futures.

The campaign concluded at Levuka Public School, where FNU staff connected with students, addressing their questions and guiding them through the application process.

In summary, FNU’s outreach efforts demonstrate a commitment to empowering students, enhancing their educational journeys, and fostering a stronger community connection. This initiative is a reminder of the positive impact that dedicated educational institutions can have on local communities, paving the way for a brighter future.

The outreach campaign not only underscores the university’s mission of accessibility to education but also inspires hope for many students eager to pursue their academic goals.
