FMF Foods Limited has entered into a five-year sponsorship agreement with the Fiji Football Association for the Inter-District Championship (IDC). Although the sponsorship amount has not been revealed due to their agreement, Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel views it as beneficial.
The partnership was announced at a press conference at the FMF headquarters in Suva. Jimi Taniela, the FMF group manager of operations, framed the sponsorship as a part of FMF’s commitment to community engagement and development, particularly in terms of fostering local talent and promoting health.
For FMF, supporting the IDC also increases their brand visibility due to the high-profile nature of the tournament. The IDC, prestigious and historical, began in 1938 with teams from Suva, Ba, Rewa, Levuka, and Lautoka.
Patel described FMF’s involvement as a historical moment for the 86-year-old championship. He thanked Courts, the previous sponsor, for its past support and emphasized the IDC’s significance as the country’s biggest football tournament involving 22 district teams. The upcoming IDC is scheduled from October 15-20 at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
