Flying Fijians Ready to Challenge Samoa in PNC Opener!

Defence and discipline are critical focus areas for the Flying Fijians as they prepare to face Samoa in the opening match of the Pacific Nations Cup at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today. This was emphasized by Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere, who stressed the importance of maintaining concentration throughout the game.

The 24-year-old hooker expressed that their success hinges on their willingness to put in the necessary effort. He urged fans to come out in large numbers to support the revamped Flying Fijians team.

“I’m ready for the challenge, and I thank God for choosing me to lead,” Ikanivere remarked, acknowledging the honor of being captain. He anticipates a tough battle against the Samoans.

Despite the youth of the team, Ikanivere noted the presence of numerous leaders within the squad, making it easier for him to manage both on and off the field.

Following two demanding training sessions, the team is focused on securing a victory in their first PNC match. The game is set to kick off at 6 PM.
