Defence and discipline are critical focuses for the Flying Fijians as they prepare for their Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This concern was emphasized by Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere.

The 24-year-old hooker expressed to SUNsports the importance of maintaining concentration throughout the match. “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work,” he remarked.

Ikanivere encouraged rugby fans to come out and support the revamped Flying Fijians team. “I’m up for the challenge and I thank God for choosing me (as captain) to do his work on earth,” he stated.

The captain anticipates a challenging game against Samoa. “We are a young team but there are many leaders in this squad, which makes my role easier on and off the field as everyone takes responsibility,” Ikanivere added.

Following two rigorous training sessions, he indicated that the team aims to secure a victory in their first Pacific Nations Cup match. The match is set to kick off at 6 PM.
