The upcoming November Test matches hold significant importance for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as they prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This insight came from head coach Mick Byrne’s remarks before the team departed the country.

Byrne highlighted that the current squad features several experienced players nearing the end of their careers. “Some of them have participated in three World Cups, and their legacy should be respected,” he stated. He emphasized that this is the perfect opportunity to introduce quality replacements in alignment with their 2027 World Cup preparations.

The coach noted the team finished the Pacific Nations Cup on a positive note and aims to continue that momentum. He explained that this international program includes four Test matches, three of which are against Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

Byrne also mentioned that players based in Europe performed well recently, while local players from the Fijian Drua squad are actively engaged in off-season training.

The Flying Fijians will kick off their tour with a Test match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. Following that, on November 10, they will travel to Cardiff to compete against Wales. The team will face Spain on November 17 and conclude their tour with a final Test match against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match have been sold out.
