The November Test matches represent a crucial period for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians in their preparations for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This was emphasized by Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne in an interview prior to the team’s departure from the country.
Byrne noted that the current squad includes several experienced players who are nearing the end of their careers. “Some of them have played in three World Cups, and their legacy should be upheld in this regard,” he stated. He indicated that now is the perfect opportunity to introduce new talent to align with their strategy for the upcoming World Cup.
“We finished the Pacific Nations Cup on a high note, and it’s essential to conclude the year similarly,” Byrne added. He remarked that the international program consists of four Test matches, three of which are against teams from the Six Nations: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
He highlighted the solid performance of Europe-based players last weekend, along with the local players from the Fijian Drua squad who have been actively engaged in off-season training.
The Flying Fijians will kick off their tour with a Test match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. Following that, they will face Wales in Cardiff on November 10, a Test match against Spain on November 17, and conclude with a match against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.
Additionally, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match are sold out.
