Waisea Nayacalevu, captain of the Flying Fijians for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has stated that the team has not received any communication from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) in light of recent allegations of mismanagement within the organization. Nayacalevu mentioned that despite their efforts, there has been no response from the FRU.

He revealed during a live podcast with social media blogger Lesi Vanuavou that he reached out to FRU Trust Board Chairman Peter Mazey, who initially agreed to a meeting with senior players but later became unavailable at the last minute. Since that time, there has been no further contact from the union.

Nayacalevu emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “We need to talk and iron out the issues,” while calling for a clean-up and accountability within the organization. He also noted that emails have been sent to the FRU concerning outstanding salaries for matches played against the Barbarians, Georgia, and the All Blacks earlier this year.
