NAIDU’S Phone Repair, a newly established store in Ba Town, faced significant challenges this week due to flooding that resulted in approximately $1,000 in damage. The flood affected crucial furniture and essential tools necessary for phone repairs.
Owners Romal Preety and Niteshwar Naidu, who have been operating the business since October, reported that their essential equipment, including a phone drill and heater, were severely damaged. “We began moving things to safety on Tuesday as the rain intensified,” Ms. Preety explained. “By Thursday night, we found ourselves returning to the shop at midnight to rescue more items, but some damage was inevitable.”
This past Saturday, the couple, alongside other local business owners also impacted by the flood, dedicated their day to cleaning up. The streets and shops in Ba Town were inundated with mud, leading to a collective effort among owners to revive their businesses.
This flooding incident marked the couple’s first experience with such a disaster since launching their shop, highlighting the difficult start to their entrepreneurial journey. However, in spite of the setback, Ms. Preety expressed optimism about restoring their business and continuing to provide services to their community.
The resilience demonstrated by the owners and their fellow business proprietors reflects a hopeful outlook for recovery in Ba Town, as the community bands together to overcome adversity and rebuild livelihoods.
