Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Service, Sitiveni Rabuka, emphasized the importance of fitness for civil servants during the Wellness Wednesday event held at the FMF Dome in Laucala Bay, Suva. The event aimed at promoting a healthier public workforce saw the participation of hundreds of civil servants.
Prime Minister Rabuka, along with Youth and Sports Minister Jese Saukuru, advocated for the necessity of physical fitness among public servants. Rabuka highlighted that maintaining good fitness levels reduces sick leave, which in turn contributes to productivity. He stressed that being physically fit allows civil servants to work during their designated hours and rest appropriately.
Youth and Sports Minister Saukuru dedicated the week to civil servants, recognizing their hard work and dedication. He expressed his gratitude for their continuous efforts in overcoming challenges and acknowledged their significant role in the country.
“This is for you,” said Mr. Saukuru. “We wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the work that you do. You have always taken challenges with you, and we wish to thank you for that. This week is dedicated to you, the civil servants of Fiji.”
