Fire Truck Flip: Firefighters Escape with Minor Injuries

The National Fire Authority has reported an incident involving one of its trucks that overturned while responding to an emergency call near Koro Village, Nadarivatu. Chief Executive Officer Puamau Sowane confirmed that all personnel aboard the truck from the Tavua Fire Station sustained only minor injuries, attributing the accident to mechanical failure.

Sowane emphasized the commitment to respond to all emergencies, stating, “We are duty-bound to attend to all emergencies, regardless of location.” He noted that emergencies have no boundaries, reflecting their dedication to safeguarding lives and property.

However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by the rugged terrain of Nadarivatu, stating that the trucks are not designed for such conditions, particularly when carrying heavy loads and equipment. The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of their work and the lengths firefighters go to serve the community.

Sowane assured the public that a thorough investigation into the incident would take place.
