Kamil Muslim College and Tavua College have triumphed in the recent video competition focused on “Visualizing Climate Change Resilience, Adaptation, and Mitigation in Fiji.” Kamil Muslim College took the top prize in the Senior Category, while Tavua College excelled in the Junior Category.
Organized by the School of Science and Technology at UniFiji, in collaboration with the Australian National University and Science Circus Pacific, the competition challenged students to produce short videos showcasing innovative, local solutions to climate change issues.
Dr. Ramendra Prasad, Head of the School of Science, emphasized the urgency of taking climate action and highlighted the significant role youth can play through their creative endeavors. He remarked that such initiatives nurture a knowledge-based society and are fundamental to educational development.
In addition to the winners, several other schools received recognition. Votualevu College and Vunimoli Islamia College were acknowledged in the Senior Category, while Xavier College and Balata College garnered awards in the Junior Category. This recognition illustrates the collaborative efforts of students across Fiji in tackling climate challenges.
