Fiji’s Young Kulas Set to Make World Cup History Against Brazil

The Fiji Young Kulas are set to make their debut in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup against Brazil tomorrow, with focused objectives in mind. Assistant Coach Annette Nainima expressed their determination to perform effectively and achieve their first-ever World Cup goal.

“This will be a proud moment for us, for me, the players, and all the officials,” Nainima shared with OFC Media. “It’s our first World Cup, and we want to return home with stories to tell our families, children, and loved ones. This is significant because no one believed that Fiji’s women’s team could reach the World Cup. Yet, here we are.”

Nainima noted the pride their families back home feel, eagerly anticipating watching the matches live. “We are committed to giving our best,” she added.

Fiji will face Brazil in their opening match at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, followed by a matchup against Canada at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, and concluding the group stage against France at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, all in Fiji time.
