The Ministry of Education in Fiji has announced an 86 percent pass rate for this year’s Year 13 Certificate Examination, a slight decline from last year’s 91 percent. Despite this decrease, Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has commended the schools that showed improvements in their overall results.

Among the highlights, two government schools garnered praise for their significant advancements. Adi Cakobau School improved its pass rate from 97 percent to 98 percent, while Vunisea Secondary saw a remarkable leap from 83 percent to 97 percent. Furthermore, Radrodro expressed appreciation for ten secondary schools that achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate: Nadarivatu Secondary, Nilsen High, Tavua District Secondary, Rt. Finau Secondary, South Taveuni Secondary, Nasesevia Secondary, Valebasoga Secondary, Duavata Secondary, Rewa Secondary, and Jai Narayan College.

The Minister encouraged parents and guardians to engage in meaningful discussions with their children regarding their results, emphasizing the importance of support as students contemplate their future paths, whether it be higher education, vocational training, or joining the workforce.

Radrodro acknowledged the collective effort of teachers, students, and parents, which is reflected in the results. Looking ahead, he urged students who will be continuing their studies to remain focused and strive to achieve their academic objectives.

This year’s results, while slightly lower, demonstrate the resilience and commitment of Fiji’s education community. The improvements made by individual schools provide a hopeful outlook for future examinations, inspiring students to pursue excellence in their educational endeavors.

Overall, the accomplishments of schools and their students signal a promising educational journey, fostering an environment where progress is recognized and encouraged.
