Fiji’s Wellness Tourism Takes Center Stage with Spiritual Leader’s Visit

Acting Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka met with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Suva yesterday to discuss the potential of Wellness Tourism as a way to expand the Fijian market.

Gavoka expressed gratitude to Gurudev for his visit to Fiji and for promoting a message of goodwill and prosperity. Their discussions also addressed the social challenges confronting young people today, including drug abuse and the irresponsible use of social media.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, an Indian Guru and spiritual leader from Papanasam, Tamil Nadu, is the founder of the Art of Living Foundation. Earlier in the day, he also met with President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House.

President Katonivere recognized Gurudev’s philosophy as one that transcends traditional societal divisions, uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds around shared values of humanity and community. To honor his significant contributions to Fiji and to humanity, President Katonivere presented Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the Officer of Fiji medal in recognition of his distinguished service.
