Fiji’s Weightlifting Star Shatters Records and Eyes Commonwealth Glory

Fiji’s weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi has made history by winning a senior gold medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Suva. Rainibogi showcased his remarkable strength by lifting 167kg in the snatch event and setting a new Commonwealth record with a 211kg lift in the clean and jerk for the 109kg weight class.

Inspired by the emergence of young talent in the sport, Rainibogi believes there is a bright future for weightlifting in Fiji. He plans to take a break to allow his shoulders to recover before starting training again. With the upcoming Commonwealth Games in December on his radar, Rainibogi is committed to maintaining his success on the international weightlifting scene and motivating the next generation of Fijian lifters.
