The Water Authority of Fiji is addressing a water supply disruption affecting some customers who receive their water from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant. The issue arose on Friday when the plant faced high turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, attributed to recent rainfall in the area.
This increased turbidity led to a significant build-up of sludge in the plant, which in turn caused a malfunction in the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers. As a result, the restoration of water production to normal levels has been delayed, impacting the water supply for those affected.
The Water Authority’s technical team is working diligently to resolve the matter and restore water supply as quickly as possible. They have expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience, particularly to those who have been without water since the previous day. WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg has also expressed gratitude to the community for their ongoing understanding and patience while the issue is being addressed.
