The Chief Operating Officer of the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Seru Soderberg, announced that the organization’s teams, along with contractors, have successfully finished the reconnection of the Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant system.

Soderberg mentioned that anchoring works commenced on Thursday, followed by connection and assembly activities that started on Friday morning.

“The anchoring process will require some time to cure overnight. Given our current rate of progress, we aim to initiate flushing works, bleed the system, refill reservoirs, and restore services starting tomorrow morning (Saturday),” he stated.

He expressed appreciation to customers for their understanding and patience, urging them to heed advisories about storing water for the weekend.

Soderberg acknowledged questions regarding the ongoing water supply for many customers, explaining that the reservoir levels have not yet depleted significantly. “We are actively managing the situation through valve operations to maintain water levels in the reservoir, ensuring it lasts as long as possible for everyone,” he added.
