Fiji’s Water Supply Crisis: Reveal What’s Causing the Disruption!

The Water Authority of Fiji is addressing a water supply disruption impacting customers who receive water from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant this weekend. Since Friday, the plant has experienced elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River due to recent rainfall in the area.

These heightened turbidity levels have led to increased sludge accumulation within the plant, resulting in a malfunction of one of the two clarifiers’ gearboxes. This breakdown has hampered efforts to restore water production to normal levels for the affected areas.

WAF’s technical team is working diligently around the clock to resolve the issue and reinstate water supply as swiftly as possible. WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding and patience during this challenging time.
