The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has issued a warning to residents in areas typically affected by high turbidity from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant about potential disruptions to their water supply. The current heavy rainfall is expected to significantly impact water quality in the source streams, complicating water treatment processes.
As a result of these conditions, WAF anticipates a reduction in water production at the Tamavua plant. The specific areas that might experience supply issues include:
– Mika Drue Place and Pathik Crescent
– Mead Road, which encompasses Volavola Road, Evetts Place, and Top Shop Road
– Elevated areas along Lakha Singh Road, including Sakoca Road
– Elevated areas along Tacirua Road, along with Raibevu Road and Tacirua Heights
– Locations near MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, and Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction
– Princes Road extending from Joe’s Farm to Sawani Service Station
– Areas in Upper Delanivesi, as well as higher regions around Lami Village Road, Kalekana Settlement Road, and Muaivuso Village
WAF assures customers that its teams are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to managing production levels in order to minimize any negative effects on water supply.
This proactive approach by WAF demonstrates their commitment to maintaining essential services and providing timely information to the community, helping residents plan accordingly during this challenging weather event. It’s a reminder of the importance of staying informed and prepared in times of adverse weather.
