Fiji’s Water Shutdown: Are You Prepared?

Spread the love

The Water Authority of Fiji has advised residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor to store adequate water in preparation for scheduled maintenance work. This work is set to take place from Friday to Sunday, leading to temporary water disruptions.

Ongoing evaluations of the worksite have identified additional risks that must be addressed prior to starting the maintenance to ensure worker safety. The Authority noted that if these risks are not dealt with in advance, they could delay the project.

Fijians are encouraged to prepare by accumulating enough water to last through the anticipated shutdown. The maintenance will facilitate essential connection work for a new DN900mm Gravity Main that will link the Waitolu Reservoir to the existing DN600mm DICL Rising Main from the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which feeds into the Wainibuku Reservoir.

The service interruption will affect areas that rely on the Wainibuku Reservoir and other connected reservoirs, including Tovata, Nagatugatu, Tacirua, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva, Kalabu, Nasinu, and Flagstaff Reservoirs.
