Fiji’s Water Disruption: Are You Prepared?

The Water Authority of Fiji has advised residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor to store an adequate amount of water due to upcoming maintenance work. The maintenance is scheduled from Friday through Sunday, which will lead to temporary water disruptions.

The Authority stated that an assessment of the worksite has unveiled additional risks that need to be addressed before the maintenance can commence, ensuring the safety of workers. These risks could potentially cause delays if not resolved in advance.

Residents are encouraged to prepare by collecting enough water to manage during the expected service interruption. The upcoming work involves critical connections to the new DN900mm Gravity Main from the Waitolu Reservoir to the existing DN600mm DICL Rising Main from the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.

The maintenance will impact areas reliant on the Wainibuku Reservoir and other associated reservoirs, including Tovata Reservoir, Nagatugatu Reservoir, Tacirua Reservoir, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva Reservoir, Kalabu Reservoir, Nasinu Reservoir, and Flagstaff Reservoir.
