The Chief Executive Officer of the Water Authority of Fiji, Dr. Amit Chanan, was honored as an IWA Fellow by the International Water Association at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition held in Toronto, Canada.
Ratu Savenaca Seniloli, Chairman of the WAF Board, praised Dr. Chanan for his achievement. He stated, “This is a remarkable and impressive accomplishment for the Water Authority of Fiji and its CEO. WAF and Fiji are fortunate to have a leader of his caliber who is always striving for higher standards, aimed at ensuring the people of Fiji have access to adequate water and sanitation.”
The title of IWA Fellow represents a prestigious recognition granted to individuals by the Association. IWA Fellows are recognized globally for their expertise and leadership in water science, technology, and management as the sector continues to develop.
Mr. Graham Dooley, a WAF Board Director and former President of the Australian Water Association, also congratulated Dr. Chanan on this significant milestone. “Over the past few decades, Dr. Chanan has contributed greatly to the water industry in Australia, Fiji, and throughout the Pacific. This acknowledgment is well-deserved for his significant advancements in the water sector,” said Mr. Dooley.
Membership in the IWA Fellows Community not only acknowledges the contributions of individuals to the water profession but also offers leadership and mentorship opportunities within a multidisciplinary community. This community is dedicated to integrating various scientific innovations, technological advancements, and creative approaches from different IWA groups.
This recognition is based on peer evaluation through a thorough assessment of the candidates’ past contributions to the water sector and IWA, along with their ongoing commitment to making significant professional contributions in the future by actively engaging in IWA initiatives that promote the water sector on international, regional, and national fronts.
