Fiji’s Water Authority CEO Honored as IWA Fellow

The Chief Executive Officer of the Water Authority of Fiji, Dr. Amit Chanan, has been honored as an IWA Fellow by the International Water Association at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition held in Toronto, Canada.

WAF Board Chairman Ratu Savenaca Seniloli commended Dr. Chanan for this significant achievement. “This is an impressive accomplishment for the Water Authority of Fiji and its CEO. WAF and Fiji are fortunate to have a leader of his caliber, consistently striving for excellence to ensure that the people of Fiji have their water and sanitation needs met,” stated Ratu Seniloli.

The IWA Fellows designation is a prestigious recognition granted to individuals by the Association. Members of the IWA Fellows community are highly respected water professionals known for their expertise and leadership in water science, technology, and management.

Graham Dooley, a WAF Board Director and former President of the Australian Water Association, also congratulated Dr. Chanan on this achievement. “In recent decades, Dr. Chanan has made substantial contributions to the water sector in Australia, Fiji, and across the Pacific. This recognition is a testament to his dedication and impactful work in advancing the water industry,” Mr. Dooley remarked.

Being part of the IWA Fellows Community highlights the contributions of individuals in the water sector and offers leadership and mentorship opportunities within a diverse community that integrates various scientific advances and innovative approaches from different IWA groups.

The recognition is backed by peer acknowledgment through a thorough evaluation of past contributions to the water sector and the IWA, as well as a commitment to making significant future contributions by engaging in IWA activities that promote the water sector at international, regional, and national levels.
