Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Viliame Gavoka has highlighted the progress made on the national front that enhances collaboration in nation building. Speaking at the conclusion of the two-day Fiji Tourism Convention 2024, which wrapped up on Friday, he expressed optimism about the growing momentum.
Gavoka noted that since the previous year’s conference, the Prime Minister had introduced the Fiji National Sustainable Tourism Framework 2024-2034. He described this framework as a comprehensive guide that outlines the vision for a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism sector, emphasizing that it represents a commitment not just for the next decade but also to the people, environment, and partners of Fiji.
He stressed the significance of public-private partnerships in achieving the country’s successes. Gavoka referred to recent developments, including the unveiling of the 2025-2029 National Development Plan and Vision 2050, as well as the launch of the $200 million Na Vualiku Project and the opening of an office in Savusavu.
“I had given my reassurance that we would establish two platforms, one with the private sector and one with civil society organizations, to ensure a collaborative approach,” he said, noting the rollout of Fiji’s first-ever Foreign Policy White Paper this week.
Gavoka emphasized that understanding the necessity of collective efforts was central to these strategies, stating that Fiji’s success relies on public-private partnerships. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for collaboration, which he believes is crucial for driving the nation’s future.
The Fiji Tourism Convention 2024, which coincided with World Tourism Day celebrations, concluded successfully.
