Fiji aims to transition from a middle-income nation to a wealthy country within the next 25 to 30 years, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad. This goal is outlined in the National Development Plan (NDP) which will be officially launched by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka at the Grand Pacific Hotel tomorrow.
During the recent launch of Kimaya Fiji at Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola, Prof Prasad emphasized that the NDP represents the government’s comprehensive strategy for enhancing the quality of life for all Fijians. He noted the significant role of women’s participation in the economy, whether in the workforce or in leadership roles, as crucial for the nation’s progress.
Prof Prasad articulated the government’s commitment to engaging with various sectors of the community, stating that they have actively sought to understand the concerns and aspirations of all citizens. He described the journey of consultation and collaboration with communities, particularly within the private sector and non-governmental organizations, as fruitful.
To foster a supportive environment for everyone, the government has devised a plan of action aimed at creating conditions that are favorable for businesses, workers, and farmers, allowing them to realize their potential and innovation.
