Fiji’s U20 Women’s Team Gears Up for a Historic World Cup Journey!

The Digicel Fiji U20 women’s soccer team is preparing for an international tour that will take them to the United States and Costa Rica before competing in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Their journey begins in the United States, where they will engage in a 10-day training and match tour in San Francisco and Sacramento. Following this, the team will travel to Costa Rica for a week of international friendly matches against Costa Rica and Morocco.

Last night, the team was presented with their World Cup jerseys during a ceremony that celebrated both sports and Fijian culture. The jerseys feature traditional Fijian designs, representing the nation’s heritage and the team’s role as cultural ambassadors on the world stage.

Midfielder Adi Litia Bakaniceva has been named captain of the Young Kulas, with Angie Rekha serving as vice-captain. The support from local businesses has been significant, with Sports World donating Puma boots and runners to the team.

This journey is not only focused on competition but also emphasizes preparation and team bonding. Fiji is set to face tough opponents in their World Cup group, including Brazil, Canada, and France, starting with their match against Brazil on August 31 in Medellin, Colombia.
