Fiji’s U-16 Team Reflects on Lessons Learned at OFC Championship

Fiji’s U-16 head coach Marika Rodu provided an overview of his team’s journey at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they secured a fifth-place finish. Although they did not progress to the semi-finals, Rodu praised the team’s morale and determination.

“We were already out of the competition, but that didn’t affect our spirits. We learned from the mistakes made in our three pool games. The match against the Solomon Islands was competitive, but the girls were eager to finish the tournament positively, and I want to thank them for their effort,” Rodu stated.

He emphasized the valuable lessons the tournament offered. “The girls gained a lot from this competition. Samoa has set a benchmark with their impressive ball movement and strong defensive play,” he noted.

Rodu also expressed gratitude to the fans for their support. “I appreciate the fans for their commitment, especially those who traveled from afar. I believe the girls truly valued their presence,” he remarked.
