Tourism in Fiji significantly boosted the nation’s economy, contributing approximately $3.22 billion last year, as reported by the 2023 International Visitor Survey released recently. This figure marks a remarkable 46 percent increase compared to 2022, reflecting both the rising demand for Fiji as a travel destination and the strategic efforts made by Tourism Fiji to enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global market.
Last year, Fiji welcomed 929,740 visitors, exceeding the arrival figures from 2022, and achieving this milestone a year earlier than anticipated. As the government’s tourism marketing agency, Tourism Fiji plans to build upon the successes of 2023 while addressing ongoing challenges.
The agency noted that while shorter stays are contributing to increased daily spending, there is a focus on exploring opportunities to extend visitor stays and encourage repeat tourism. The survey data also revealed a need to improve accessibility for travelers with disabilities and to further promote Fiji’s sustainability efforts.
Tourism Fiji emphasizes its commitment to providing authentic cultural experiences, inclusivity, responsible tourism, and personalized services, all while ensuring that Fiji remains a prime destination for those seeking adventure, relaxation, and cultural engagement, and continues to support local communities and businesses.
