Fiji’s Tourism Boost: A Sporting Challenge Sets Economic Stars in Motion

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka has reiterated the Coalition Government’s commitment to leveraging high-impact events to stimulate the economy and support Fiji’s tourism development objectives. Speaking at the Spartan 2024 Business Launch in Sabeto, Gavoka emphasized the Spartan event as both a sporting competition and a vital element of the government’s strategy to enhance Fiji’s standing in the Wellness Tourism sector.

Gavoka reflected on the previous year’s Spartan event, which brought in approximately FJ$6 million, and noted its positive impact on local businesses, with over 30 suppliers offering critical services such as transportation, accommodation, and catering. He stated that this economic boost aligns with the Coalition Government’s goal of promoting local economic engagement while enhancing Fiji’s attractiveness on a global scale.

The event also provided considerable advantages for Land Owning Units and local communities, showcasing the inclusive nature of Fiji’s economic progress under the Coalition Government.
