Fiji’s Thrilling Penalty Win: A Dramatic Finish in Beach Soccer Showdown!

Fiji triumphed over the Solomon Islands in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 6-5 after the match concluded in a 2-2 tie during their final group match of the 2024 OFC Men’s Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Honiara.

The match was closely contested, with Fiji’s captain Tevita Waranaivalu and Steven Dean scoring during regulation time. Waranaivalu also converted Fiji’s first penalty in the shootout. Alongside him, Dean, Adriu Nabose, France Catarogo, and goalkeepers Sanaila Waqanicakau and Ilisoni Koro all successfully converted their penalties.

Despite this victory, Fiji will not advance to Saturday’s final, which will feature defending champions Tahiti against the Solomon Islands. Earlier in the tournament, Fiji suffered defeats, losing 8-6 to Papua New Guinea and 10-1 to Tahiti.
