Fiji narrowly defeated the Solomon Islands 6-5 in a penalty shootout during their final group match at the 2024 OFC Men’s Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Honiara. The match was tightly contested and ended in a 2-2 draw, leading to the shootout to determine the winner.

Fiji’s goals in regular time were scored by captain Tevita Waranaivalu and Steven Dean. Waranaivalu successfully converted Fiji’s first penalty kick, and he was joined by Dean, Adriu Nabose, France Catarogo, and goalkeepers Sanaila Waqanicakau and Ilisoni Koro in successfully scoring their penalty attempts.

Despite the victory, Fiji did not advance to the final on Saturday, which will feature defending champions Tahiti and the Solomon Islands. Earlier in the tournament, Fiji suffered defeats against Papua New Guinea with a score of 8-6 and Tahiti, where they lost 10-1.
