The Textile Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji (TCF Council) is preparing to send representatives to the Australia International Sourcing Fair (AISF) later this month. This exhibition is highly anticipated by the council as it marks Fiji’s return to international sourcing events following the pandemic.
The council emphasized Fiji’s role as a crucial regional sourcing hub for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. It highlighted the significance of the ‘Make it in Fiji’ initiative, which has been in place for over a decade with support from AusAID, revitalizing an industry that was previously struggling.
Fiji has successfully created products for well-known brands, reaching customers in America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. The council noted that Fiji distinguishes itself from larger manufacturing countries like China, Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam by focusing on flexibility, quality, and smaller production runs.
The industry is characterized by its high-quality products and a positive attitude towards customer service, which is considered to be as renowned as the friendly Fijian smile. Additionally, the English-speaking capabilities of Fijian manufacturers enhance the level of customer service.
Confirmed companies representing Fiji at the AISF include Danam (Fiji) Pte Ltd, Nagsun Apparel Fiji Ltd, and United Apparel (Fiji) Pte Ltd. The event will take place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in South Bank, Victoria, from November 19 to 21.
This participation in the AISF not only signifies an encouraging step for Fiji’s textile, clothing, and footwear industry but also presents an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their unique offerings and strengthen ties within the regional market.
Summary: The TCF Council of Fiji is sending delegates to the Australia International Sourcing Fair, marking Fiji’s return to international fairs after COVID-19. The council highlighted Fiji’s role as a sourcing hub, complementing its unique offerings in textiles focused on quality, flexibility, and smaller production runs.
