Fiji’s Taniela Rainibogi Shatters Records and Inspires Future Lifters

Fiji weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi marked a significant achievement by winning a senior gold medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship, which concluded yesterday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

In a remarkable performance, Rainibogi lifted 167kg in the snatch category and set a new Commonwealth record with a 211kg lift in the clean and jerk category for the 109kg weight class.

Inspired by the rise of promising young lifters, Rainibogi believes in a bright future for weightlifting in Fiji. He intends to take a break to allow his shoulders to recover before he resumes training.

With his focus on the upcoming Commonwealth Games in December, Rainibogi is committed to continuing his success on the international weightlifting scene and aims to motivate the next generation of Fijian lifters.
