Sunishma Singh has been named Miss Continental Oceania 2024 at the Miss Face of Beauty International Pageant held in Taiwan on Thursday. The 28-year-old entrepreneur and sustainability advocate expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent Fiji and the wider Oceania region.

“This title offers a platform for me to further advocate for climate resilience, sustainable tourism, and gender empowerment on a global scale,” Ms. Singh stated. She emphasized the weight of the responsibility she carries and her intention to draw attention to critical issues facing both Fiji and the broader Pacific community.

Ms. Singh believes her educational background, entrepreneurial experiences, and focus on sustainable tourism contributed to her success in the pageant. “I have always maintained that any platform I receive should be used to elevate the causes I am passionate about, and this pageant was an excellent venue to showcase not only Fiji’s beauty but also my commitment to sustainability,” she remarked.

Reflecting on her time in Taiwan, she shared, “There was not a moment I did not miss home and the comforts of a home-cooked meal.” Surrounded by extraordinary women from around the world, each contestant offered unique perspectives and strengths.

Ms. Singh holds a bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems and Geography, along with a postgraduate degree in Climate Change from the University of the South Pacific. She serves as the Sustainability Officer at Tourism Fiji and runs her own business, Singh’s Herbal Hair Oil, which is available in over 65 supermarkets across Fiji.

“My passion extends to promoting sustainable practices; I have also taken on advocacy roles in environmental resilience and gender empowerment,” she said. Her journey towards this achievement has been filled with challenges. Balancing her studies with her professional ambitions was one of her early hurdles.

“Determination drove me to excel academically while building a career based in sustainability and entrepreneurship,” she added.

During the pageant’s coronation, Jeanne Isabelle Bilasano from the Philippines was crowned Miss Face of Beauty International 2024.
