Sunishma Singh has been crowned Miss Continental Oceania 2024 at the Miss Face of Beauty International Pageant held in Taiwan on Thursday. The 28-year-old entrepreneur and sustainability advocate expressed her gratitude for the chance to represent not only Fiji but also the wider Oceania region.
“This title represents a platform for me to continue my advocacy for climate resilience, sustainable tourism, and gender empowerment on an international level,” Ms. Singh shared. She emphasized the significance of the role and her eagerness to use this recognition to spotlight critical issues both in Fiji and throughout the Pacific community.
With a background in academia and entrepreneurship, Ms. Singh believes these experiences contributed to her success in the competition. “I have always aimed to use every opportunity to elevate causes that matter to me, and this pageant offered the ideal setting to showcase Fiji’s beauty alongside my commitment to sustainability,” she stated.
Reflecting on her experience in Taiwan, she noted, “I missed home and the comfort of a home-cooked meal. Competing alongside remarkable women from around the globe, each with their unique perspectives, was truly inspiring.”
Ms. Singh holds both a bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems and Geography and a postgraduate degree in Climate Change from the University of the South Pacific. Alongside her role as the Sustainability Officer at Tourism Fiji, she manages her own successful business, Singh’s Herbal Hair Oil, which is available in over 65 supermarkets across the country.
“I am passionate about fostering sustainable practices, and my advocacy extends into environmental resilience and gender empowerment,” she remarked. Her journey has been a mix of challenges and accomplishments, particularly in managing her studies alongside her career. “I was committed to excelling academically while building a career rooted in sustainability and entrepreneurship.”
During the pageant’s coronation, Jeanne Isabelle Bilasano from the Philippines was named Miss Face of Beauty International 2024.
