Sunishma Singh has been named Miss Continental Oceania 2024 during the Miss Face of Beauty International Pageant held in Taiwan on Thursday. The 28-year-old entrepreneur and sustainability advocate expressed her gratitude for the chance to represent Fiji and the broader Oceania region.
“This title serves as a platform for my continued advocacy for climate resilience, sustainable tourism, and gender empowerment on a worldwide stage,” Ms. Singh stated. She emphasized the importance of the responsibility that comes with this title and her intent to draw attention to significant issues affecting both Fiji and the Pacific community.
Ms. Singh believes that her educational background, entrepreneurial ventures, and commitment to sustainable tourism contributed to her success in the pageant. “I have always aimed to use every opportunity I have to uplift the causes I am passionate about, and this pageant allowed me to showcase both the beauty of Fiji and my dedication to sustainability,” she added.
Reflecting on her time in Taiwan, she mentioned the nostalgia for home and the comfort of home-cooked meals while competing alongside remarkable women from different parts of the world, each bringing distinct perspectives and strengths.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems and Geography and a postgraduate degree in Climate Change from the University of the South Pacific, Ms. Singh is currently the Sustainability Officer at Tourism Fiji. She also manages Singh’s Herbal Hair Oil, a successful business distributed in over 65 supermarkets across Fiji.
In her commitment to promoting sustainable practices, Ms. Singh has taken on advocacy roles in environmental resilience and gender empowerment. She shared that her journey has been a mix of challenges and victories, particularly in balancing her education with her career ambitions.
During the same pageant, Jeanne Isabelle Bilasano from the Philippines was crowned Miss Face of Beauty International 2024.
