Sunishma Singh has been named Miss Continental Oceania 2024 at the Miss Face of Beauty International Pageant held in Taiwan on Thursday. The 28-year-old, who is a sustainability advocate and entrepreneur, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent Fiji and the entire Oceania region.

“This title provides me with a platform to further advocate for climate resilience, sustainable tourism, and gender empowerment on an international level,” Ms. Singh stated. She emphasized that she takes this responsibility seriously and looks forward to using her recognition to highlight crucial issues in Fiji and the wider Pacific community.

Ms. Singh believes that her educational background and experience in sustainable tourism contributed to her success in the competition. “I have always aimed to use every platform I receive to promote the causes I am passionate about, and this pageant was an ideal stage to display both Fiji’s beauty and my commitment to sustainability,” she remarked.

Reflecting on her experience in Taiwan, she mentioned, “There was not a moment when I didn’t miss home and the comforts of a home-cooked meal. Competing alongside remarkable women from around the world, each with unique perspectives and strengths, was truly inspiring.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems and Geography and a postgraduate degree in Climate Change from the University of the South Pacific (USP). In addition to serving as the Sustainability Officer at Tourism Fiji, she runs a thriving business called Singh’s Herbal Hair Oil, which is sold in over 65 supermarkets across Fiji.

“I am committed to promoting sustainable practices, and my advocacy work extends to environmental resilience and gender empowerment,” she added. Despite facing challenges along her journey, including managing her studies while working, she remained determined to succeed academically and build a career grounded in sustainability and entrepreneurship.

During the pageant’s coronation, Jeanne Isabelle Bilasano from the Philippines was awarded the Miss Face of Beauty International 2024 title.
