Fiji’s Sunishma Singh Crowned Miss Continental Oceania 2024: A New Voice for Sustainability

Sunishma Singh was named Miss Continental Oceania 2024 at the Miss Face of Beauty International Pageant held in Taiwan on Thursday. The 28-year-old advocate for sustainability and entrepreneur expressed her gratitude for the chance to represent not only Fiji but the entire Oceania region.

“This title serves as a platform for me to promote climate resilience, sustainable tourism, and gender empowerment globally,” Singh stated. She emphasized her commitment to harnessing this recognition to shine a light on vital issues impacting both Fiji and the wider Pacific community.

Singh, who has a bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems and Geography as well as a Postgraduate degree in Climate Change from the University of the South Pacific, highlights her background and work as the Sustainability Officer at Tourism Fiji as key factors that contributed to her achievement. In addition to her professional commitments, she oversees a thriving business, Singh’s Herbal Hair Oil, which is available in over 65 supermarkets throughout Fiji.

“I am dedicated to advocating for sustainable practices, and my efforts extend into areas of environmental resilience and gender empowerment,” she mentioned. Her path has been marked by both obstacles and accomplishments, one of which included juggling her studies with her professional responsibilities.

Singh noted, “I was focused on excelling academically while also constructing a career founded on sustainability and entrepreneurship.”

At the same event, Jeanne Isabelle Bilasano from the Philippines was crowned Miss Face of Beauty International 2024.
