Fiji’s Sporting Scene Disrupted: Water Cuts Halt Events

Sporting activities at the Fiji Sports Council facilities are currently suspended due to water supply interruptions affecting areas between Suva and Nausori. Emosi Lasaqa, the communications officer for the Fiji Sports Council, announced that multiple facilities will remain closed until further notice as a result of the impending water shutdown.

This precautionary measure aims to prioritize the safety and comfort of all visitors during the disruption. The facilities impacted by this closure include the National Hockey Centre, National Fitness Centre, Damodar City Aquatic Centre, National Netball Centre, Multipurpose Centre, and the Victoria Tennis Centre.

The Fiji Sports Council has expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding of its customers while they work to restore normal operations. The water supply interruption, confirmed by the Fiji Water Authority, is set to last for three days, beginning yesterday and continuing through Sunday. This situation has necessitated the temporary halt of sports events and the closure of various sporting facilities.
