Fiji’s Spartan Event: A Game Changer for Tourism and Economy?

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka has reaffirmed the Coalition Government’s commitment to leveraging high-impact events to enhance the economy and support Fiji’s tourism development objectives.

During the Spartan 2024 Business Launch held in Sabeto, Gavoka emphasized the importance of the Spartan event as both a sporting challenge and a vital element in the government’s strategy to promote Fiji as a destination for Wellness Tourism.

Reflecting on the previous year’s Spartan event, which generated an impressive FJ$6 million, he noted its positive impact on local businesses, with over 30 suppliers involved in providing crucial services such as transportation, accommodation, and catering.

Gavoka stated that this economic boost aligns with the Coalition Government’s goal of promoting local economic involvement while also enhancing Fiji’s international appeal. The event has also yielded significant advantages for Land Owning Units and local communities, showcasing the inclusive approach to economic growth fostered by the Coalition Government.
